What each COE category covers π€
Category A covers cars up to 1,600cc and up to 97kW, plus EVs up to 110kW πβ‘. This is where many mass-market sedans, hatchbacks and compact crossovers sit.
Category B is for cars above 1,600cc or above 97kW, including EVs over 110kW πβ¨. Larger SUVs, premium marques and higher-performance variants usually fall here.
Category C covers goods vehicles and buses ππ. A higher Cat C premium can feed into logistics costs, commercial leasing rates and replacement planning.
Category D is for motorcycles ποΈ. Demand often tracks commuting patterns and delivery volumes, so swings can show up quickly.
Category E is the Open Category π§Ύπ – it can be used to register any motor vehicle except motorcycles. In practice, it is often used for larger cars due to how dealers manage allocations.
