The registration of children for admission to Primary One classes in 2012 will open from Wednesday, 29 June 2011 to Friday, 26 August 2011. The dates for the different phases of registration are listed in Annex A (64kb .pdf).
All primary and full schools will open for registration from 8.00 am to 11.00 am and from 2.30 pm to 4.30 pm from Mondays to Fridays during the registration period. Details on the list of primary schools and vacancies available can be found on the Primary One Registration website.
The cohort size for 2012 is similar to that for 2011. There will be sufficient school places for all eligible Primary One students on a regional and nationwide basis.
Pilot Primary One Internet System (P1-IS) for Online RegistrationP1-IS) for eight Primary Schools during Phase 2C and 2C Supplementary only. The eight schools are:P1-IS is an alternate channel to facilitate the registration of children during these phases.
To register online via the P1-IS, both parents are required to use their SingPass. For details, please refer to the P1-IS Step-by-Step Guide on the MOE P1 website. This year, MOE is piloting a new Primary One Internet System (
- Anchor Green Primary School
- Beacon Primary School
- Canberra Primary School
- Edgefield Primary School
- Endeavour Primary School
- Mee Toh School
- Nan Chiau Primary School
- North Vista Primary School
The P1–IS is an alternate channel to facilitate the registration of children during these phases. To register online via the P1–IS, both parents are required to use their SingPass. For details, please refer to the P1–IS Step-by-Step Guide on the MOE P1 website. The P1–IS is accessible 24 hours during the following registration periods:
- Phase 2C—Starting from 9.00 am on 26 July 2011 to 4.30 pm on 28 July 2011; and
- Phase 2C Supplementary—Starting from 9.00 am on 9 August 2011 to 4.30 pm on 11 August 2011.
Parents who do not wish to do an online registration can continue to register personally at these eight pilot primary schools. Parents seeking to register their children in all other primary schools should continue to go to their school of choice personally to register.
One New School and Four Relocating Schools in 2012
A new school, Frontier Primary, will open in 2012 at Jurong West Street 61. Four primary schools, namely Henry Park Primary, Rosyth School, Sembawang Primary, and St. Joseph’s Institution Junior, will be relocating to and operating from their temporary locations in 2012.
Phase 3 Registration
Children who are neither Singapore Citizens nor Singapore Permanent Residents may register at the schools directly under Phase 3 on Thursday, 25 August 2011. The hours of registration are from 8.00 am to 11.00 am and from 2.30 pm to 4.30 pm.
With effect from the 2011 P1 Registration Exercise, balloting will be conducted in Phase 3 if the number of applications exceeds the number of places available at the end of the first day of Phase 3 registration. Balloting will be conducted on Friday, 26 August 2011. After balloting is completed, children who have not been able to obtain a place at their school of choice can go to another school with remaining vacancies to register on a first-come-first-served basis on 26 August 2011.relevant form available on the MOE website or at the MOE Customer Service Centre at 1 North Buona Vista Drive Singapore 138675 (Tel: 6872-2220).
Compulsory Education
Under the Compulsory Education Act, Singapore Citizens born after 1 January 1996 and residing in Singapore are required to attend national primary schools. Children born between 2 January 2005 and 1 January 2006 (both dates inclusive), have to be registered at this year’s Primary One Registration Exercise for admission to Primary One in January 2012.
If a child is assessed as being not ready or suitable for Primary One on medical grounds, a parent may seek approval from the Compulsory Education Unit for deferment of registration. Application can be made using the

Registration Procedures
Parents registering their children under Phase 1 may submit the registration form and relevant documents through the older sibling who will be given the form by the school. For registration under Phase 2A(1) to Phase 3, a parent or a person authorised by the parent in writing is to submit the registration form and relevant documents at the school of choice. Each child should be registered at only one school at any one time. If the child is registered at more than one school, he may lose his place in the school of choice.
International students who were born between 2 January 2005 and 1 January 2006 may apply to the school of choice during Phase 3 of the 2011 Primary One Registration Exercise for admission to Primary One in January 2012.
Allocation of Places
Children will be allocated places in the school according to the order of priority spelt out in the Registration Scheme at Annex A (64kb .pdf). Singapore Citizen/Singapore Permanent Resident children, who are unsuccessful in obtaining a Primary One place in a school of their choice at the end of Phase 2C Supplementary, should approach MOE to post them to a school near their home that still has vacancies.

Announcement on Balloting and Vacancies
During the Primary One Registration Exercise, parents can find out which schools will be conducting balloting via Teletext (Channel 8, page 720) or through the Primary One Registration Exercise’s balloting page at the end of each registration phase. Parents are welcome to witness the balloting at the schools. The number of applicants for each school is updated daily on the Internet and Teletext.
False Information
Any registrant found to have provided false information during the Primary One Registration Exercise will be referred to the Police for investigation. A child who is successfully registered in a school based on false information given will be transferred to another school with available vacancies after all eligible children have been registered.
