Update: Bank of China S’pore Offers Up to 2% Time Deposit Promo Rates From 28 Sep 2026

Bank of China Singapore’s Personal Time Deposit promotion is running from 21 September 2026, with mobile banking promotional rates of up to 1.80% p.a. on new SGD placements made through BOC Mobile Banking 📱.

The headline 1.80% p.a. rate applies to a minimum placement of S$200,000 for 6 or 12 months. A S$100,000 tier offers 1.75% p.a. for 6 or 12 months, while the entry tier starts from S$500 with rates from 1.10% to 1.70% p.a. across selected tenors.

Compared with BOC’s immediately preceding 14 Sep 2026 rates, the 21 Sep schedule brings several notable increases. The S$500 3-month rate rises from 1.35% to 1.60% p.a., a 0.25 percentage-point jump; the 18-month rate rises from 1.40% to 1.60% p.a.; and the 24-month rate rises from 1.40% to 1.55% p.a.. At S$200,000, the 6- and 12-month rates increase from 1.75% to 1.80% p.a., while the 18-month rate moves from 1.55% to 1.65% p.a.. A new S$100,000 tier also provides 1.75% p.a. for 6 or 12 months, reducing the previous S$200,000 threshold for that 1.75% rate on those tenors.

A dash means BOC does not publish a separate higher-tier promotional rate at that amount for the tenor; confirm the rate displayed in BOC Mobile Banking before placement.

At the S$500 entry level, the highest listed promotional rate is 1.70% p.a. for 6 or 12 months. Raising the placement to S$100,000 lifts those same tenors to 1.75% p.a., while S$200,000 unlocks the top 1.80% p.a. rate for 6 or 12 months. The S$200,000 tier also lists 1.75% p.a. for 9 months and 1.65% p.a. for 18 months.

💵 What does 1.80% p.a. mean in dollars? Using a simple annualised illustration, S$200,000 at 1.80% p.a. works out to about S$1,800 over six months or S$3,600 over 12 months. These are illustrative estimates using principal × annual rate × months/12; the actual maturity interest depends on BOC’s applicable interest calculation and placement dates.

💡 Quick points before locking in funds

  • 📱 Mobile placement: Promotional rates apply to new SGD time deposit placements made through BOC Mobile Banking.
  • 🏦 Account requirement: A BOC Savings Account or Current Account is required to make a time deposit placement through mobile banking.
  • 👤 Eligibility: SGD Time Deposit applicants must be at least 15 years old. Applicants include Singapore Citizens, Permanent Residents and foreigners holding a valid Work Pass, Student Pass, Long-Term Visit Pass or Dependant Pass.
  • 📈 Rate confirmation: Promotional rates are indicative and apply to personal customers. The applicable rate is the rate at the point of placement, so confirm the rate displayed in BOC Mobile Banking immediately before submission.
  • ⚠️ Premature withdrawal: Check the current conditions before breaking a deposit early.
  • 🔁 At maturity: BOC’s published Time Deposit FAQ says Time Deposits placed online are automatically renewed at prevailing rates for the same tenor. Check the maturity instruction before placement and amend it before maturity if automatic renewal is not wanted.
  • ✅ Final checks: Verify the placement amount, tenor, displayed interest rate, maturity date, maturity instruction and funding account before submitting the transaction.
  • 📋 Standard eligibility requirements, placement conditions and prevailing bank terms apply.

📱 How to place the time deposit

  1. Log in to the BOC Mobile Banking App.
  2. Select the Time Deposit placement function.
  3. Choose SGD, select the preferred tenor and enter the placement amount.

  5. Confirm the placement after checking all transaction details.

Once a BOC Savings Account or Current Account and Mobile Banking access are in place, the time deposit can be placed without visiting a branch. Existing customers who have not registered for Mobile Banking can register through Personal Online Banking or at a BOC branch.
