The Pioneer Generation (PG) Discount scheme in 2017 will include Thursdays from 1 January 2017, where members of the Pioneer Generation[1] may enjoy a three per cent discount when they shop at all FairPrice supermarkets, FairPrice Finest outlets and FairPrice Xtra hypermarkets.
This is the third year that FairPrice has extended this initiative, where close to $6.4 million in savings have been disbursed since its launch in October 2014.
With the inclusion of an additional day of the week for the PG Discount, pioneers will be able to enjoy a three percent discount on both Mondays and Thursdays, in addition to the two percent discount on Tuesdays under the Seniors Discount scheme, which applies to all shoppers above the age of 60.
Both discount schemes will be on top of existing initiatives to help shoppers stretch their dollar. These initiatives include LinkPoints, membership rebates, purchase-with-purchase, Housebrand, Every Day Low Price (EDLP) and Yellow Dot products.
Beyond savings, members of the Pioneer Generation also enjoy the use of designated priority payment counters at all FairPrice supermarkets and hypermarkets island-wide, which encourage customers to be gracious and allow PG members to move ahead of the queue while making payment.
To enjoy the PG Discount and priority queuing, Pioneer Generation members need only to present their PG card, provided as part of the Pioneer Generation Package from the government, at cashier counters at all FairPrice supermarkets.
