NTUC FairPrice (FairPrice) announced today a two percent discount on Wednesdays for all fresh fruits and vegetables until the end of the year.

The discount will apply to all 143 outlets islandwide, comprising FairPrice supermarkets, FairPrice Shop, FairPrice Finest and FairPrice Xtra, to promote healthier eating among Singaporeans. This initiative is estimated to cost FairPrice $360,000 over the three-month period.

FairPrice offers a wide range of over 2,800 fresh fruits and vegetables comprising different types, brands and pack sizes – including FairPrice’s own housebrand range, Pasar and Pasar Organic – for shoppers to choose from, depending on seasonal availability. Demand for fruits and vegetables have been rising steadily in recent years with sales seeing a 10 percent to 15 percent increase year on year since 2012.

This discount is part of an ongoing holistic approach to support the national drive towards a heathier lifestyle by making it more affordable for Singaporeans to incorporate more vegetables and fruits in their diet. The Health Promotion Board (HPB) recommends fruits and vegetables make up half the portion of every meal[1].

Over the years, FairPrice has also supported various public education campaigns to promote heathy eating and active living. In 2015, FairPrice also provided a discount of 10 per cent on all FairPrice housebrand fresh produce for six months.
