Travel the World at Changi Airport! Topiary displays, Angry Birds decorations, carolling and more; Changi is the place to visit this Christmas

SINGAPORE, 2 December 2011 – Dreaming of visiting the world’s greatest landmarks and experiencing firsthand their awe-inspiring grandeur? This festive season, Changi Airport is giving its visitors a magical experience by recreating some of the world’s greatest sights!

Giant topiaries in the form of iconic world landmarks are now on display in both the public and transit areas of Terminals 2 and 3[1]. Showcasing Changi Airport’s connectivity and its position as Singapore’s gateway to the world, the topiaries, which stand up to nine metres tall, include the Eiffel Tower, Sydney Opera House, Temple of Heaven, and Singapore’s very own famous Merlion[2].

Accentuated with decorative lights, these grand topiary displays promise visitors a memorable experience and great photo opportunities. At the biggest topiary display site at the Terminal 3 Departure Hall, where the Merlion topiary is located, quaint miniature figurines of the Statue of Liberty, Taj Mahal, the Pyramids of Egypt and other famous world landmarks complete the travel road map around the world. There, visitors can also get their photos taken at special photo kiosks.

To throw in an element of fun, adorable Angry Birds characters – from the popular smartphone game which has taken the world by storm – are a unique highlight of this year’s festive celebrations at Changi Airport. At the topiary display sites, Angry Birds riding on hot air balloons and blimps decorated with blinking lights provide fun photo opportunities for visitors. Furthermore, until 31 January 2012, die-hard Angry Birds fans Opera House and Eiffel Tower topiaries are located at the transit areas of Terminals 2 and 3 respectively. can redeem adorable Angry Birds plush collectibles under Changi Airport’s festive shopping promotion[3].

Resplendent Decorations and Carolling

Throughout the airport, other vibrant decorations adorning the terminals’ interiors and their surroundings add extra magic to the holiday atmosphere. Along Airport Boulevard, visitors are greeted with the beautiful sight of shimmering Christmas ornaments and decorations donning the trees lining the boulevard, giving them very warm season’s cheer. In addition to the topiaries, there are floral displays of Christmas trees and flowers located across each terminal, featuring festive elements such as poinsettias, reindeers, sleighs, baubles and gifts.

And what better way to boost the holiday spirit than through music and song? A few times a day, airport visitors and passengers will be serenaded with beautiful Christmas favourites by carolling groups roving Changi’s main terminals, spreading holiday cheer with their singing. For instance, at the Merlion topiary site at Terminal 3, there will be carolling from 7pm to 7.30pm on every Friday, Saturday and Sunday in December, with the sessions extended to 9.30pm during the Christmas weekend (23 to 25 December). Activities Galore for Children

Changi’s ever popular giant inflatable bouncy castle will make a return this Christmas! Measuring about 17 metres wide and eight metres tall, the massive inflatable castle provides kids with endless entertainment and delight as they bounce and slide on it.
