For the period from 1 April to 30 June 2017, electricity tariffs will increase by an average of 6.1% or 1.20 cents per kWh compared to the previous quarter.
The increase is largely due to the cost of natural gas for electricity generation, which increased by 12.0% compared to the previous quarter.
For households, the electricity tariff will increase from 20.20 to 21.39 cents per kWh for 1 April to 30 June 2017.
The average monthly electricity bill for families living in four-room HDB flats will increase by $4.21
