The 2017 FORMULA 1 SINGAPORE AIRLINES GRAND PRIX returns to Singapore from 15 to 17 September 2017.

Race organisers have made arrangements to ensure minimal traffic disruptions and improve accessibility, whilst allowing members of the public to carry on their normal daily activities in the Marina Centre area.

Road Closures Over Six Days

Similar to the past years, road closures will take place over six days, a reduction from twelve days at the first 2008 race. Affected roads will be closed from 12.01am, 13 September (Wednesday) for the set-up of race infrastructure. Affected roads will reopen progressively when the race is completed with all roads fully accessible by 5.30am, 19 September (Tuesday).

To facilitate better traffic access, race organisers have made arrangements to re-open more roads earlier after the race. Taxis will be allowed entry to the Marina Centre area at all times, except during F1 race times. Race-goers can take the MRT with the extension of public transport operating hours.

Roads Open During Traffic Peak Hours

To facilitate morning and evening peaks, the following road corridors will be opened at selected hours during the road closure period:

Wednesday and Thursday (13 & 14 September), from 5.30am to 9.30am

a) Towards Orchard Road:

  • Collyer Quay >> St Andrew’s Road >> Stamford Road
  • Nicoll Highway >> Stamford Road

b) Towards Shenton Way:

  • Nicoll Highway >> Esplanade Drive

c) Towards Marina Boulevard:

  • Republic Boulevard >> Temasek Ave >> Bayfront Avenue

Friday (15 September), from 5.30am to 9.30am

a) Towards Orchard Road:

  • Collyer Quay >> St Andrew’s Road >> Stamford Road
  • Nicoll Highway >> Stamford Road

b) Towards Shenton Way

  • Nicoll Highway >> Esplanade Drive

Monday (18 September), from 5.30am to 9.30am

a) Towards Shenton Way:

  • Bras Basah Road or Nicoll Highway >> Esplanade Drive

b) Towards Marina Boulevard:

  • Raffles Boulevard >> Temasek Avenue>> Bayfront Avenue

c) Towards ECP (Changi Airport):

  • Bras Basah Road >> Raffles Boulevard >> Republic Boulevard

Monday (18 September), from 5pm to 8.30pm

a) Towards Orchard Road:

  • Esplanade Drive >> Stamford Road
  • Nicoll Highway >> Stamford Road

b) Towards Shenton Way:

  • Bras Basah Road or Nicoll Highway >> Esplanade Drive

c) Towards Marina Boulevard:

  • Raffles Boulevard >> Temasek Avenue >> Bayfront Avenue

d) Towards ECP (Changi Airport):

  • Bras Basah Road >> Raffles Boulevard >> Republic Boulevard
  • Bayfront Avenue >> Temasek Avenue >> Raffles Boulevard >> Republic Boulevard

e) Towards Kallang:

  • Stamford Road >> Beach Road
  • Esplanade Drive or Bras Basah Road >> Nicoll Highway

Vehicular Access into Marina Centre

Members of the public are encouraged to use the public transport during the road closure period. Those who wish to drive can access the developments and shopping centres in the Marina Centre area via a single lane along Raffles Boulevard via Nicoll Highway (except for buses and vehicles with W,X,Y plates):

  • Wednesday to Friday (13 – 15 September), from 10am to 5pm and from 10pm to 6am
  • Saturday and Sunday (16 – 17 September), from midnight to 1pm
  • Monday (18 September), from midnight to 6am, 10am to 5pm and from 10pm to 6am

Taxis will also be able to use the single-lane access at all times, except during the hours when the race is ongoing on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

In addition to the single lane road, motorists can also enter Marina Centre area via Temasek Boulevard from Rochor Road (after exiting ECP) throughout the day.

To ensure smooth traffic flow, traffic wardens will be deployed on site to direct traffic and assist the public. Road information and directional signs will also be put up in the vicinity to direct motorists.

Car parks at Suntec City, Millenia Singapore and Marina Square remain open to public subject to availability.

Public Transport Arrangements

During the race days (15-17 September), operating hours of MRT train services will be extended to cope with the higher demand. The operating hours for selected feeder bus services will also be extended to match the last train services.

  • MRT services will be available at City Hall MRT station till 12.30am for all three race days on 15, 16 and 17 September 2017.

Free shuttle buses are also available between Lavender MRT Station and Gate 1 of the race venue.

Ticket holders are encouraged to make use of public transport during race days to get to the race venue as most gates are within walking distance to an MRT station. Taxis are also available as an additional option.

  • With the exception of the race hours, taxis are given free access into the area
  • Taxis are only allowed to stop at designated taxi stands.
On Foot
  • Most pedestrian routes will remain open for use.
  • Prominent signs will be put up to direct and guide pedestrians to the various destinations.

Information on Road Access Plans

Members of the public are strongly advised to plan their journeys ahead of time. Information leaflets on the road access and public transport plans will be available at selected petrol stations, major public transport nodes and various developments in the Marina Centre area from today.
