A musical voyage at the Lunar New Year Istana Open House

The first Istana Open House (IOH) of 2024 will be held on Monday, 12 February 2024, 8.30am to 6.00pm, in celebration of the Lunar New Year.

Members of the public can enjoy a series of live performances and activity booths, as well as go on tours of the Istana Main Building and grounds at the IOH. The Istana Heritage Gallery, located in the Istana Park opposite the Main Gate of the Istana, will also be open from 8.30am to 6.00pm.

Performances and Activity Booth

Visitors can look forward to a series of traditional and contemporary performances,

including musical ensembles on instruments such as the dizi, pi pa and guzheng, local renditions of pop songs, and multicultural dances.

These performances will be put up by LASALLE College of the Arts, University of the Arts Singapore, Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA), Sheng Hong Arts Institute, Singapore Chinese Dance Theatre, Taman Jurong Community Club Juboon Dragon and Lion Dance Troupe, Tampines Arts Troupe, TheDanceTribeSG and Yuan Ching Secondary School. Visitors can also take part in activities such as Chinese calligraphy.

Guided Tours

Guided tours of the Istana Main Building will be conducted from 9.30am to 4.30pm, during which visitors can view selected function rooms and take a closer look at a selection of State Gifts presented over the years to Singapore’s leaders. Visitors interested in the Istana’s flora and fauna can join the Nature Guided Tour from 10.00am to 4.00pm. Visitors can also opt to go on self-guided tours.

Snacks and Merchandise

There will be food stalls and a food truck as well as merchandise booths with limited-edition Istana souvenirs and President’s Challenge souvenirs. There will also be two merchandise booths from Social Service Agencies (SSA) TOUCH Community Services and MINDS. Only cashless payments[1] via Credit/Debit Card and/or QR Code[2] will be accepted.

Admission Details

Entry to the Istana grounds will be via the Main Gate at Orchard Road. The nearest MRT station is Dhoby Ghaut. Entry may be restricted due to capacity or inclement weather.

Entry to the Istana grounds is free for Singapore Citizens and Singapore Permanent Residents (including their caregivers). All other visitors are required to pay an entrance fee of $20 per adult and $10 per child (4 to 12 years). There will be added fees for entrance to the Main Building and the guided tours. Entry to the Istana Heritage Gallery is free for all visitors. Only cashless payments via Credit/Debit Card and QR Code will be accepted.

All proceeds from the entrance into the Istana grounds, tours and the President’s Challenge merchandise booth will go towards charities supported by the President’s Challenge. Proceeds from the SSAs booths will go towards the SSAs.
