In a move that will bring smiles to many faces, the Land Transport Authority (LTA) of Singapore has announced a significant reduction in Electronic Road Pricing (ERP) rates at selected gantries during the upcoming June school holidays.

This decision comes as part of LTA’s regular review process and aims to ease the financial burden on motorists during the holiday season when traffic is expected to be lighter.

Starting from 27 May 2024, motorists will enjoy reduced rates at various locations across the city. The adjustments will be in effect until 23 June 2024, providing a month-long period of relief.

The following table outlines the changes:

7:30 – 8:00$2.00$1.00
8:00 – 8:30$2.00$1.00

*ERP rate per Passenger Car Unit (PCU)
**Rates for other time slots at previously announced gantries remain unchanged

The reductions are particularly notable during peak hours, where rates have been halved at several key gantries. For instance, the AYE after Jurong Town Hall towards the city will see a reduction from $2.00 to $1.00 during the busy 7:30 – 8:00 AM slot. Additionally, certain time periods will now be completely free of charge, such as the 9:30 – 10:00 AM slot on the same route.

It’s important to note that these changes are temporary and specifically tailored for the school holiday period. LTA has clarified that the rates will revert to their standard charges from 24 June 2024 onwards. Motorists are advised to take note of these changes and plan their travel accordingly to benefit from the reduced rates.

LTA’s initiative is part of a broader effort to manage traffic flow and congestion in Singapore. By adjusting rates according to expected traffic volumes, LTA aims to encourage off-peak travel and reduce congestion during peak periods. This strategy not only benefits motorists financially but also contributes to a smoother and more efficient transportation system for all.
