Analysis of COE Trends

The latest increase in COE prices suggests continued demand pressure in the market. Category B and Category E, typically associated with larger and luxury vehicles, saw the most significant hikes, with premiums rising by $3,890 and $4,090 respectively. The Open Category (Category E), which can be used for any vehicle type except motorcycles, continues to be closely linked to luxury and high-performance vehicle segments.

Meanwhile, Category C, which covers commercial vehicles such as goods vehicles and buses, recorded an increase of $3,088. This rise may indicate stronger demand from businesses seeking to expand or renew their fleets.

Breakdown of COE Categories

Category A: Covers non-fully electric cars with engines up to 1,600cc and a power output of up to 97kW (130bhp), along with fully electric cars up to 110kW (147bhp).

Category B: Includes non-fully electric cars exceeding 1,600cc or producing more than 97kW (130bhp), as well as fully electric cars exceeding 110kW (147bhp).
