August 2026 first Certificate of Entitlement (COE) open bidding exercise closed on 5 August 2026 at 4pm, with premiums moving in both directions. 🚗
Compared with the immediately preceding July 2026 second bidding exercise, Categories A and C fell, while Categories B, D and E edged higher.
Category C recorded the largest dollar decrease, dropping S$2,344 to S$91,545. Category A followed with a S$2,110 decline to S$123,890. At the other end, Category B was almost unchanged with a modest S$20 increase, while Category E posted the biggest rise at S$1,029. 📊

What stands out from the latest bidding exercise
- Category E was the most oversubscribed by ratio: 443 bids were received for 254 COEs, equivalent to about 1.74 bids per COE available. Category A had the largest raw bid count at 1,522, but its ratio was lower at about 1.24.
- Categories A and C have fallen for two consecutive exercises: from their records in the 8 Jul 2026 bidding exercise, Category A has retreated a cumulative S$5,110 while Category C has fallen S$3,455.
- Category C remains historically elevated: the latest S$91,545 premium is still S$444 above the former S$91,101 record reached in Mar 2023, before a succession of new highs in 2026.
- Categories D and E have risen for three consecutive exercises: compared with the 17 Jun 2026 bidding exercise, Category D is up S$514 and Category E is up S$1,998.
- Several categories remain below their all-time peaks: Category B is S$20,091 below its S$150,001 record, Category E is S$27,004 below its S$158,004 record, and Category D is S$2,686 below its S$13,189 record.
What each COE category covers
Category A covers non-fully electric cars with engines up to 1,600cc and maximum power output up to 97kW (130bhp), plus fully electric cars with maximum power output up to 110kW (147bhp).
Category B covers non-fully electric cars above 1,600cc or above 97kW (130bhp), plus fully electric cars above 110kW (147bhp).
Category C is for goods vehicles and buses.
Category D covers motorcycles.
Category E is the Open Category, excluding motorcycles.
