Standard Chartered Bank (Singapore) Limited is offering promotional rates of up to 2.00% p.a. on its Fresh Funds Singapore Dollar Time Deposit, with the current rates effective from 28 Aug 2026. 💰
A minimum of S$25,000 in eligible Fresh Funds is required for the six-month promotional tenor.
For spare cash that can remain untouched for half a year, the promotion provides a fixed return without exposure to daily market movements. Transfer eligible Fresh Funds into an existing Standard Chartered savings or current account, then complete the time-deposit placement through SC Mobile or Online Banking.
The current 2.00% p.a. top tier is 0.40 percentage point higher than the 1.60% p.a. headline rate in Standard Chartered’s 4 Aug 2026 update.
⚠️ Important before placing: At least S$25,000 in eligible Fresh Funds is required, and the Time Deposit must be held until maturity for the promotional rate. Priority Banking and Priority Private customers must also maintain the relevant banking status throughout the applicable period and until maturity to receive the preferential rate.

What counts as Fresh Funds? 🤔
Fresh Funds must not originate from an existing Standard Chartered account. Funds withdrawn from Standard Chartered and re-deposited within the 30 days before opening the Time Deposit do not qualify as Fresh Funds under the promotion. ⚠️
Consider transferring qualifying money from another Singapore bank through services such as FAST and retaining the incoming transaction record. Where recent withdrawals, internal transfers or multiple fund movements are involved, confirm eligibility before opening the time deposit to reduce the risk of missing the promotional rate. ⚠️
Checks before locking away the cash
- Keep an emergency buffer available: Commit only funds unlikely to be required during the six-month tenor.
- Early withdrawal can be costly: The promotional rate requires the Time Deposit to be held until maturity. If an early withdrawal is permitted, part or all of the accrued interest may be lost, and fees or other conditions may also apply. Check the applicable terms before requesting an uplift. ⚠️
- Review maturity instructions: A renewed Time Deposit will receive the rate offered by Standard Chartered at the time of renewal, which may differ from the original promotional rate.
- Keep the confirmation advice: Check the confirmed tenor, promotional rate and maturity information after placement and retain the advice for reference.
- Compare the six-month promotion with other tenors: Standard Chartered’s broader Time Deposit product offers tenors from 1 to 24 months, but other tenors may carry prevailing rather than Fresh Funds promotional rates.

Compare the options before committing
A headline interest rate does not show how accessible the cash remains or what is required to earn the highest tier. Standard Chartered’s e$aver promotion is a useful same-bank comparison because it keeps funds liquid but calculates promotional interest using eligible incremental balances rather than a fixed six-month placement.
| Option | Headline rate | Qualifying balance | Access to funds | Important top-rate condition |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 6-month SGD Time Deposit | Up to 2.00% p.a. | Minimum S$25,000 in eligible Fresh Funds | Fixed six-month tenor | 2.00% p.a. applies to Priority Private; relevant banking status must be maintained through maturity |
| Standard Chartered e$aver promotion | Up to 1.60% p.a. | Eligible incremental balance against the July 2026 average daily balance, capped at S$2 million | No fixed-deposit lock-in | 1.60% p.a. requires qualifying wealth holdings; without qualifying wealth holdings, the total rate is up to 1.40% p.a. |
For a wider market check, review the Singapore deposit rate comparison guide and the RHB Singapore fixed-deposit promotion from 1 Aug 2026. Minimum placements, eligible customer tiers, tenors and access to funds differ, so compare the qualifying conditions rather than headline rates alone.

Bottom line
For eligible Fresh Funds of at least S$25,000, Standard Chartered’s six-month promotion provides rates from 1.70% p.a. to 2.00% p.a. depending on banking segment. Check Fresh Funds eligibility carefully, confirm the rate shown immediately before placement and retain sufficient accessible cash outside the time deposit. ✅
