Key terms & highlights

  • Channel restriction: Mobile Banking Promo Rates apply to New Placement via BOC Mobile Banking App only.
  • Funding: Ensure sufficient balance in your linked BOC account before placing.
  • Early withdrawal: Premature withdrawal may result in reduced or no interest
  • Final rate: The applicable rate is the one displayed in-app at the point of placement.
  • Rate precedence: If there is any discrepancy between published rates and in-app/counter rates, the rates offered through mobile banking or at the counter shall prevail.

Who might prefer which tenor?

  • 1-3 months: For those who want liquidity soon; the 3-month 1.40% p.a. stands out for short-term parking.
  • 5-6 months: A middle ground if you can set funds aside a little longer; the 6-month S$40,000 tier at 1.40% p.a. is the headline pick.
  • 9-12 months: Suitable if you prefer a longer horizon and don’t mind slightly lower rates for stability.

Simple interest illustrations (indicative)

  • 3 months at 1.40% p.a. on S$20,000: ≈ S$20,000 × 1.40% × (3/12) = S$70.
  • 6 months at 1.40% p.a. (S$40,000 tier) on S$40,000: ≈ S$40,000 × 1.40% × (6/12) = S$280.
  • 5 months at 1.30% p.a. (S$500 tier) on S$10,000: ≈ S$10,000 × 1.30% × (5/12) ≈ S$54.17.

Figures are for illustration only and exclude any fees or charges. Interest is typically credited at maturity unless stated otherwise in-app.

How to apply (BOC Mobile Banking App)

  1. Log in to the BOC Mobile Banking App.
  2. Tap “Time Deposit” → select SGD and choose your preferred tenor.
  3. Enter the placement amount (note the S$500 or S$40,000 minimums per the table).
  4. Review the promo rate, maturity date and early-withdrawal terms.
  5. Confirm the placement to complete the paperless process ✅.

Tips to maximise your returns

  • Ladder your deposits: Split funds across 3- and 6-month tenors to balance rate and liquidity.
  • Set a maturity reminder: Note the date so you can re-price or withdraw at maturity – many FDs auto-renew at board rates.
  • Check your tier: If you can place ≥ S$40,000, check the table to see if a higher tiered rate applies for that tenor.

From 3 Nov 2025, BOC’s refreshed app-only FD board delivers a competitive up to 1.4% p.a., with the 3-month and 6-month (S$40,000 tier) options standing out for short- to mid-term savers. Those needing flexibility can keep to shorter tenors, while depositors with larger balances may unlock the top tiered rates. As always, confirm the final rate in-app before placing, and set reminders for maturity to keep your cash working hard. 👍
