Compared with the immediately preceding BOC schedule, the headline rate has risen from 2.00% p.a. to 2.05% p.a.. The SGD 20,000 and SGD 200,000 tiers have also gained higher 3-month options, while the 9- and 18-month SGD promotional tenors shown in the previous round are no longer listed in the current schedule.

The SGD 500 rates are unchanged across the tenors that remain in both rounds. Returning customers should take particular note that the previously available 9- and 18-month SGD promotional tenors are absent from the current schedule.

🌟 New-to-bank customers: BOC also has a separate promotion offering up to 2.18% p.a. for 4- or 8-month SGD Time Deposits of SGD 100,000 to SGD 250,000. It requires qualifying new-to-bank status, new BOCSG Multi-Currency Savings and Time Deposit accounts, fresh funds and placement through BOC Mobile Banking; cumulative placements under that promotion are capped at SGD 250,000. Check the official BOC new-to-bank Time Deposit promotion details for the full eligibility requirements.

✅ Checks before locking in the deposit

  • 👤 Applicant requirements: These promotional rates are for personal customers. SGD Time Deposit applicants must be at least 15 years old. BOC lists Singapore Citizens, Permanent Residents and foreigners holding a valid Work Pass, Student Pass, Long-Term Visit Pass or Dependant Pass among the applicants it accepts.
  • 🏦 Funding account: A BOC Savings Account or Current Account is required for the Mobile Banking placement. Account-opening deposits, minimum-balance requirements and service charges vary by account, so check the relevant account conditions before opening one solely for a Time Deposit placement.
  • 📊 Compare tenor and amount: A higher placement amount does not automatically produce the best result for every tenor. Compare the available combinations carefully, especially where shorter and longer tenors carry different rates.
  • 📈 Rate confirmation: Check the live promotional rate displayed in BOC Mobile Banking immediately before submitting the placement, particularly if rates have been revised since publication.
  • ✅ Final checks: Confirm the placement amount, tenor, displayed interest rate, maturity date, funding account and maturity instruction before submitting the transaction.

📱 Placing the Time Deposit

These promotional rates apply to new Time Deposit placements made through BOC Mobile Banking. Follow the Time Deposit placement flow in the app and check the SGD placement amount, tenor, displayed interest rate, maturity date and funding account carefully before confirming the transaction.

Once a BOC Savings Account or Current Account and Mobile Banking access are in place, the Time Deposit can be placed without visiting a branch. Existing customers who have not registered for Mobile Banking can register through Personal Online Banking or at a BOC branch.

🏦 For in-person help with account or Mobile Banking setup, check the official BOC Singapore branch list before visiting. Note that the Marine Parade Wealth Management Centre is appointment-only and dedicated to Prestigious Wealth Management customers.

For savers comfortable setting aside funds for a fixed period, the general Mobile Banking schedule offers several choices across different deposit sizes. Its strongest rate is 2.05% p.a. for SGD 200,000 over 6 or 12 months, while placements from SGD 500 retain a range of shorter and longer tenors. Qualifying new-to-bank customers should also compare the separate 4- and 8-month offer before placing funds. 💰
