CIMB’s October 2026 CASA Bonus Interest/Profit Promotion gives qualifying fresh funds a sizeable boost, with 1.20% p.a. bonus interest/profit for Personal Banking and 1.30% p.a. for Preferred Banking. 💰
The offer applies to CIMB FastSaver, FastSaver-i, StarSaver, StarSaver-i, StarSaver (Savings) and StarSaver (Savings)-i accounts. A minimum S$10,000 Incremental Balance in qualifying fresh funds is required, while promotional Bonus Interest/Profit is capped at an Incremental Balance of S$1,000,000 per eligible account.
The advertised headline reaches up to 2.78% p.a. for Personal Banking and 2.88% p.a. for Preferred Banking when the applicable prevailing balance-tier rate is combined with the CASA promotional bonus. These headline figures are not flat rates on the entire account balance or every dollar of fresh funds.

💰 October CASA bonus rates at a glance
| Banking tier | Bonus rate on eligible Incremental Balance | Headline rate including applicable prevailing rate |
|---|---|---|
| Personal Banking | 1.20% p.a. | Up to 2.78% p.a. |
| Preferred Banking | 1.30% p.a. | Up to 2.88% p.a. |
Both promotional rates apply only when the qualifying Incremental Balance is at least S$10,000 and the other promotion conditions are met. Preferred Banking note: The 1.30% p.a. bonus and 2.88% p.a. headline are for customers with CIMB Preferred status. CIMB currently lists a S$250,000 Total Relationship Balance or S$1,000,000 Mortgage Loan Size as standard minimum requirements to become a Preferred member, subject to terms. See the CIMB Preferred Banking requirements.
Who can qualify?
For existing customers, an eligible account must already have been held before 1 October 2026. Main and joint account holders may qualify, subject to CIMB’s promotion conditions.
⚠️ Important September check: An existing qualifying account is not eligible for this October promotion if a minimum S$10,000 Incremental Balance in fresh funds was already deposited into that account during September 2026. Checking September funding activity before moving additional funds can avoid an unexpected disqualification.
New customers are also eligible: Opening a qualifying account online during October 2026 is required for new customers, but opening the account alone does not secure the bonus. At least S$10,000 in incremental fresh funds must also be deposited during the promotion period, with the applicable month-end and daily Incremental Balance requirements met. For a new customer, the 30 September 2026 comparison balance is treated as S$0.
What existing CIMB customers need to do
- Hold a qualifying FastSaver or StarSaver family account that was already open before October 2026.
- Deposit at least S$10,000 in qualifying incremental fresh funds during October.
- Ensure the October month-end balance is at least S$10,000 above the account’s end-of-day balance on 30 September 2026.
- From the date at least S$10,000 has been funded, maintain a Daily Incremental Balance of at least S$10,000 on each day for which Bonus Interest/Profit is to be earned.
- Keep the qualifying account open through bonus crediting. During the Bonus Interest/Profit Earning Period, Bonus Interest/Profit is earned only on days when the Daily Incremental Balance is at least S$10,000; falling below the threshold on one day does not by itself disqualify later qualifying days.
Fresh funds must originate outside CIMB Bank. Transfers from an existing CIMB current, savings or fixed deposit account do not qualify. Funds withdrawn from an existing CIMB account and then redeposited into the qualifying account during the promotion also do not become qualifying fresh funds.
The bonus earning period runs through December
Funding takes place during October, but the Bonus Interest/Profit Earning Period covers October, November and December 2026. From the date the minimum S$10,000 Incremental Balance is funded, the Daily Incremental Balance must remain at least S$10,000 on each relevant day for promotional Bonus Interest/Profit to accrue on that day.
Bonus Interest/Profit is limited to the first S$1,000,000 of Incremental Balance per eligible account. Any Incremental Balance above S$1 million continues to receive the applicable prevailing account interest/profit where relevant, but does not receive this CASA promotional bonus.
Promotional Bonus Interest/Profit accrues daily and is scheduled to be credited into the qualifying account on 31 January 2027. If that crediting date falls on a weekend or public holiday, CIMB’s terms provide for crediting on the next working day. Closing the qualifying account before bonus crediting means the promotional Bonus Interest/Profit will not be applied.
CIMB FastSaver prevailing rates and add-ons
- First S$25,000: 0.50% p.a. prevailing interest.
- Next S$25,000: 1.08% p.a..
- Next S$25,000: 1.58% p.a..
- Balance above S$75,000: 0.50% p.a..
The 1.20% p.a. Personal Banking or 1.30% p.a. Preferred Banking CASA bonus is calculated separately on the eligible Incremental Balance. FastSaver and FastSaver-i also have additional-interest routes on the first S$25,000, subject to their separate conditions.
A salary credit or scheduled recurring transfer through Standing Instructions via GIRO of at least S$1,000 can earn an additional 0.50% p.a., while qualifying CIMB Visa Signature Credit Card spending can earn another 1.00% p.a. when at least S$800 in eligible spend is posted for the corresponding statement month. These are separate offers rather than automatic components of the CASA bonus. The recurring-transfer requirement is not satisfied merely by making a S$1,000 FAST or PayNow transfer. See the salary/GIRO terms (PDF).
Both FastSaver additional rates apply only to the first S$25,000 and should therefore be assessed separately when estimating total returns. The CASA promotion’s up-to 2.88% p.a. headline should not be read as the absolute maximum return possible under every FastSaver combination.
CIMB StarSaver prevailing rates
- First S$100,000: 0.50% p.a..
- Next S$150,000: 1.08% p.a..
- Next S$750,000: 1.58% p.a..
- Next S$4,000,000: 0.80% p.a..
- Balance above S$5,000,000: 0.50% p.a..
For CIMB StarSaver (Savings), prevailing interest is accrued daily and credited monthly, with a minimum daily balance of S$1,000 required to receive prevailing interest for that day. The calculations below use a S$1,000 starting balance and therefore correspond most directly to StarSaver (Savings) and StarSaver (Savings)-i. For StarSaver and StarSaver-i current accounts, CIMB currently lists S$5,000 as the minimum balance to earn prevailing interest/profit, so the S$1,000 starting-balance illustrations should not be applied directly to those variants.
A closer look at the S$10,000 requirement
The qualifying figure is not simply the gross amount transferred. The Incremental Balance is measured against the end-of-day account balance on 30 September 2026.
For example, an existing account with S$1,000 at the comparison date would generally need an October month-end balance of at least S$11,000 to represent a S$10,000 Incremental Balance, assuming all other conditions are met.
If the Daily Incremental Balance later drops below S$10,000 on a particular day during the earning period, promotional Bonus Interest/Profit is not earned for that day. Maintaining a sufficient qualifying balance therefore remains important even though the funds are not described as being locked into a conventional fixed-term deposit.
Existing FastSaver customer example
| Banking tier | 30 Sep balance | October balance | Prevailing interest/profit | Bonus interest/profit | October total |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Personal Banking | S$1,000 | S$11,000 | S$4.67 | S$10.19 | S$14.86 |
| Preferred Banking | S$1,000 | S$11,000 | S$4.67 | S$11.04 | S$15.71 |
In this illustration, prevailing interest/profit is calculated on the S$11,000 account balance, while promotional Bonus Interest/Profit is calculated on the S$10,000 Incremental Balance. The Personal Banking example uses the 1.20% p.a. bonus rate and the Preferred Banking example uses 1.30% p.a.
📊 Illustrative effective rates for different fresh-funds top-ups
The headline rate does not apply evenly to every dollar because CIMB’s prevailing interest/profit rates are tiered. The illustration below estimates the annualised effective rate attributable to different fresh-funds top-ups for an existing customer.
The calculation assumes a S$1,000 account balance on 30 September 2026, qualifying fresh funds deposited on 1 October 2026 and maintained, all promotion requirements met, and no FastSaver salary/GIRO or Visa Signature additional-interest rates. Prevailing interest attributable to the fresh funds is calculated from the difference between the interest on the starting balance and the interest on the post-top-up balance.
| Fresh funds top-up | FastSaver Personal | FastSaver Preferred | StarSaver (Savings) Personal | StarSaver (Savings) Preferred |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| S$10,000 | About 1.70% p.a. | About 1.80% p.a. | About 1.70% p.a. | About 1.80% p.a. |
| S$50,000 | About 2.01% p.a. | About 2.11% p.a. | About 1.70% p.a. | About 1.80% p.a. |
| S$100,000 | About 2.12% p.a. | About 2.22% p.a. | About 1.71% p.a. | About 1.81% p.a. |
| S$250,000 | About 1.87% p.a. | About 1.97% p.a. | About 2.05% p.a. | About 2.15% p.a. |
| S$500,000 | About 1.78% p.a. | About 1.88% p.a. | About 2.42% p.a. | About 2.52% p.a. |
| S$1,000,000 | About 1.74% p.a. | About 1.84% p.a. | About 2.60% p.a. | About 2.70% p.a. |
| S$2,000,000 | About 1.12% p.a. | About 1.17% p.a. | About 1.70% p.a. | About 1.75% p.a. |
| S$5,000,000 | About 0.75% p.a. | About 0.77% p.a. | About 1.16% p.a. | About 1.18% p.a. |
These are calculated illustrations rather than flat rates quoted by CIMB. A S$500,000 StarSaver (Savings) top-up under the assumptions above has prevailing interest attributable to the added funds of about 1.216% p.a.; adding the CASA bonus produces an illustrated effective rate of about 2.42% p.a. for Personal Banking or 2.52% p.a. for Preferred Banking.
⚠️ Fresh funds above S$1 million do not receive the promotional bonus on the excess. The S$1 million promotional cap is why the effective rate falls substantially in the S$2 million and S$5 million illustrations even though prevailing account interest can continue to apply.
Actual interest can differ when the starting balance changes, fresh funds arrive after 1 October, balances fluctuate during the earning period or a different set of prevailing-interest tiers is crossed.
💡 Fresh-funds sweet spots under the illustration
When the goal is the highest blended annualised rate on the fresh-funds top-up, rather than the largest absolute amount of interest dollars, the tier structures create illustrative sweet spots.
| Account | Illustrative fresh-funds sweet spot | Resulting account balance | Personal Banking effective rate | Preferred Banking effective rate |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| FastSaver | About S$74,000 | S$75,000 | About 2.26% p.a. | About 2.36% p.a. |
| StarSaver (Savings) / (Savings)-i | About S$999,000 | S$1,000,000 | About 2.60% p.a. | About 2.70% p.a. |
Why about S$74,000 for FastSaver? Starting from S$1,000, a S$74,000 top-up brings the account to S$75,000 and fully uses the balance tier earning 1.58% p.a. prevailing interest. Balance above S$75,000 reverts to a 0.50% p.a. prevailing rate, which starts pulling down the blended rate.
Why about S$999,000 for StarSaver? Starting from S$1,000, a S$999,000 top-up brings the account to S$1 million. This captures the higher prevailing tiers through the S$1 million account-balance level. Balance above S$1 million moves into the 0.80% p.a. prevailing tier, while the promotional bonus itself is capped at S$1 million of Incremental Balance.
The exact optimum changes with the actual comparison balance. If the starting balance is different from S$1,000, the top-up needed to reach S$75,000 for FastSaver or S$1 million for StarSaver will change accordingly. These illustrations also exclude the separate FastSaver salary/GIRO and CIMB Visa Signature add-ons.
📈 How October compares with the previous CIMB round
The October offer improves meaningfully on the September 2026 CIMB fresh-funds promotion (expired). The core S$10,000 fresh-funds requirement and S$1 million promotional cap remain unchanged, but both banking tiers receive a higher bonus rate and the earning period is longer.
| Feature | Previous September round | Current October round | Change |
|---|---|---|---|
| Personal Banking bonus | 0.90% p.a. | 1.20% p.a. | +0.30 percentage point 💹 |
| Preferred Banking bonus | 1.00% p.a. | 1.30% p.a. | +0.30 percentage point 💹 |
| Highest advertised CASA headline | Up to 2.58% p.a. | Up to 2.88% p.a. | +0.30 percentage point 💹 |
| Minimum incremental fresh funds | S$10,000 | S$10,000 | No change |
| Promotional bonus cap | S$1,000,000 | S$1,000,000 | No change |
| Bonus earning period | September and October | October, November and December | 1 month longer 💹 |
Under the article’s same S$1,000 starting-balance assumptions, the illustrated FastSaver sweet-spot rate rises from about 1.96% to 2.26% p.a. for Personal Banking and from 2.06% to 2.36% p.a. for Preferred Banking. For StarSaver (Savings), the corresponding illustrations rise from about 2.30% to 2.60% p.a. and from 2.40% to 2.70% p.a. respectively. Above S$1 million of fresh funds, the improvement becomes progressively diluted because the promotional bonus is capped at S$1 million.
For qualifying funds currently held outside CIMB, the October promotion can add 1.20% p.a. or 1.30% p.a. to eligible Incremental Balances for the promotional earning period. The key checks are the 30 September comparison balance, the S$10,000 minimum, daily maintenance of the qualifying Incremental Balance, the September exclusion rule and the S$1 million promotional cap. 💹
