Review the refreshed Singapore Dollar Time Deposit and Term Deposit-i promotional rates below:
| Tenor | Eligible customers | Promotional rate (% p.a.) | Change from 10 Jul 2026 |
|---|---|---|---|
| 6 months | Individual customers only | 1.45% | +0.15 percentage points 💹 |
| 9 months | Individual and non-individual customers | 1.30% | – No change |
| 12 months | Individual and non-individual customers | 1.45% | – No change |
Start date: 22 Jul 2026.
Minimum placement: S$20,000, or another amount stipulated by Maybank from time to time.
Customer eligibility: The 6-month tenor is available to individual customers only. The 9- and 12-month tenors are available to individual and non-individual customers.
Which tenor may be more suitable?
- 6 months at 1.45% p.a.: Available to individual customers only. This offers the joint-highest rate with the shortest listed commitment, although the reinvestment rate available at maturity may be higher or lower.
- 9 months at 1.30% p.a.: Available to individual and non-individual customers. This middle-duration option carries the lowest promotional rate in the table.
- 12 months at 1.45% p.a.: Available to individual and non-individual customers. This locks in the joint-highest promotional rate for a full year, provided the funds can remain untouched until maturity.
At the minimum placement of S$20,000, simple gross-return illustrations work out to about S$145 for six months at 1.45% p.a., S$195 for nine months at 1.30% p.a. and S$290 for 12 months at 1.45% p.a. These are indicative amounts only. Actual interest or profit may differ because Maybank computes returns daily and applies the exact placement and maturity dates.
Interest and profit payment details
- Singapore Dollar Time Deposit: Interest is computed daily at the contracted rate and paid only upon maturity.
- Singapore Dollar Term Deposit-i: Profit is computed daily and paid upfront into the relevant Maybank Current or Savings Account on the next business day after successful placement, or after cheque clearance, whichever is later.
Check the product type carefully before confirming, as the timing of payment differs between a conventional Time Deposit and Term Deposit-i.
Premature withdrawal rules
A fixed deposit works best when the full sum can remain untouched until maturity. Early withdrawal can reduce or eliminate the expected return.
Keep a separate emergency fund before locking in the promotional placement amount. This reduces the chance of an early withdrawal and the resulting loss of interest or profit. ⚠️
Deposit insurance coverage
Eligible Singapore dollar deposits of non-bank depositors are insured by the Singapore Deposit Insurance Corporation for up to S$100,000 in aggregate per depositor per Scheme member by law. The aggregate limit applies across eligible deposits held with the same Scheme member, rather than separately to every account.
How to place a Maybank Time Deposit
- Open the Maybank Time Deposit promotion page and confirm that the standalone promotional table remains available.
- For an individual online placement, ensure an eligible Maybank Savings or Current Account and active Maybank2u Online or Mobile Banking access are available.
- Singapore citizens and Permanent Residents using the personal online route may apply with Singpass or Myinfo, or through the Maybank2u SG app where applicable.
- For a non-individual placement, confirm the applicable branch or business-banking channel with Maybank before proceeding.
- For branch assistance, check the official Maybank Singapore branch locator.
- Select the preferred tenor and confirm both the displayed promotional rate and customer eligibility for that tenor.
- Keep at least S$20,000 in the funding account, unless Maybank specifies a different minimum.
- Review the maturity instructions carefully. Unless instructions are given before maturity, the Time Deposit will be renewed for the same tenor at Maybank’s prevailing board rate and prevailing features, terms and conditions at the time of renewal.
- Confirm only after checking the rate, tenor, eligibility, placement amount, funding account, maturity instruction and applicable terms. ✅
Compare before committing funds
Promotional deposit rates can change when banks revise their funding offers. Compare the effective annual rate, minimum placement, tenor, early-withdrawal treatment, online placement process and maturity instructions before proceeding.
For a wider overview, compare the best fixed and time deposit rates here. A higher headline rate may not always be the better fit when it requires a longer lock-in, a larger deposit or less flexible withdrawal terms.
