Standard Chartered Bank (Singapore) Limited has refreshed its Fresh Funds Singapore Dollar Time Deposit rates from 1 Oct 2026, offering up to 1.95% p.a. for a 12-month placement. 💰

Update: Standard Chartered S’pore 12-Month Time Deposit Up To 1.9% p.a. from 9 Oct 2026

A minimum of S$25,000 in eligible Fresh Funds is required. The promotional rate varies by banking segment, with Personal Banking at 1.70% p.a., Priority Banking at 1.85% p.a. and Priority Private at 1.95% p.a.

For cash that can remain set aside for a year, the time deposit provides a fixed rate for the confirmed tenor without exposure to daily market movements. Transfer eligible Fresh Funds into an existing Standard Chartered savings or current account, then complete the placement through SC Mobile or Online Banking.

⚠️ Important before placing: S$25,000 is the minimum Fresh Funds placement for the Time Deposit; it does not by itself unlock the 1.95% p.a. headline rate. Priority Private clients receive 1.95% p.a., while Priority Banking clients receive 1.85% p.a. Priority Banking and Priority Private status must also be maintained through maturity for the respective preferential rate. Relationship qualification is separate from this Time Deposit promotion, so check the current Priority Banking and Priority Private requirements where relevant.

Fresh Funds SGD time deposit rates

Check the banking segment and promotional rate displayed during placement before submitting the transaction. The rate shown at placement and on the confirmation advice is especially important because Standard Chartered may refresh eligible tenors and promotional rates during the promotion.

The illustrative interest figures show S$25,000 multiplied by the stated annual rate for a 12-month placement and are provided as a quick comparison. Actual interest is calculated according to Standard Chartered’s applicable account terms. The confirmed tenor and rate on the Time Deposit confirmation advice prevail if they differ from those shown on the website.

The headline “up to 1.95% p.a.” therefore refers to the Priority Private rate. Personal Banking and Priority Banking placements receive their respective rates shown above.

The historical Standard Chartered update from 28 Aug 2026 is useful context, but it is not a like-for-like rate comparison because that promotion used a six-month tenor while the current promotion uses 12 months.

The bigger practical change is therefore the tenor: funds now need to remain placed for 12 months rather than six months to earn the current promotional rate.

What counts as Fresh Funds? 🤔

Fresh Funds must not originate from an existing Standard Chartered account. Funds withdrawn from Standard Chartered and re-deposited within the 30 days before opening the Time Deposit also do not qualify as Fresh Funds.

Consider transferring qualifying money from another Singapore bank through services such as FAST and retaining the incoming transaction record. Where recent withdrawals, internal transfers or multiple fund movements are involved, confirm eligibility before opening the Time Deposit. ⚠️

Checks before locking away the cash

  • Keep an emergency buffer available: Commit only funds unlikely to be needed during the 12-month tenor.
  • Confirm Fresh Funds eligibility: Check that the placement money meets the bank’s Fresh Funds definition before proceeding.
  • Check banking status: Priority Banking and Priority Private clients need to maintain the applicable status through maturity for the preferential rate.
  • Review maturity instructions: If the Time Deposit is renewed at maturity, the renewal will use Standard Chartered’s prevailing Singapore Dollar Time Deposit board rate for the same tenor, which may differ from the promotional rate originally secured.
  • Keep the confirmation advice: Review the confirmed tenor, interest rate and maturity information after placement. If the website rate and confirmation advice differ, the confirmation advice prevails for that placement.
  • Compare other tenors: Standard Chartered’s broader Time Deposit product offers tenors from 1 to 24 months, although other tenors may carry different prevailing or promotional rates.
