From 1 April 2019, you will be able to borrow more books, magazines and audio-visual materials from libraries!
To encourage more Singaporeans to tap on library resources to read and learn, National Library Board will be increasing the borrowing quota for physical items.
The revised quota for the various library membership types is given in the table below:
Membership | Number of items you can borrow | |
---|---|---|
Up till 31 March 2019 | From 1 April 2019 | |
Basic | 8 | 16 |
Partner* | 10 | 20 |
Premium Plus | 16 | 24 |
Foreigners | 8 | 16 |
*Partner refers to People’s Association only.
On top of physical library items, you can also borrow up to 16 eBooks from each of these collections: (i) Overdrive; (ii) Apabi; (iii) iRead eBook (formerly known as airitiBooks); and (iv) HyRead (Chinese eMagazines). This means that as a Basic member, you can borrow up to 64 eBooks in total, at any one time!
Loan renewal
Need more time to finish reading the books? You can keep your borrowed items for another three weeks (21 days) with a one-time free renewal.
Just remember:
- You can only renew books that are not reserved by other readers, so that they are not kept waiting.
- Renewals have to be done before or on the due date.
- Magazines and audio-visual materials cannot be renewed.
For more information, refer to the updated membership guide from 1 April 2019.
