KFC will be launching a new flavour of chicken from 13 July – the Umakara Chicken!
The new flavour is made with fresh chicken, prepared with savoury shoyu marinade, breaded in spicy crispy batter and sprinkled with Umami spice.
Umami, a savory taste, is one of the five basic tastes (together with sweetness, sourness, bitterness, and saltiness). A loanword from the Japanese, umami can be translated as “pleasant savory taste”. This particular writing was chosen by Japanese chemist Kikunae Ikeda from umai “delicious” and mi “taste”.
Also new on the menu: Shrooms Poppers. Golden potato bites stuffed with finely chopped mushrooms, mixed vegetables, chicken meatloaf and onions.

- Umakara Chicken Meal: Savour 2 pieces of the new Umakara Chicken, 1 regular Whipped Potato and Coleslaw, plus a refreshing cup of regular SJORA Mango Peach at only $7.90.
- Umakara Chicken Box: 2 pcs Umakara Chicken (includes 1 drumstick or wing), 2 pcs Crispy Tenders, 2 pcs Shrooms Poppers, 1 reg Whipped Potato
