Fire Up Your Taste Buds this CNY with KFC’s First-ever La Zi Ji (Sichuan Mala Chicken)
Get ready to Huat Your Mouth this Chinese New Year with KFC’s festive specials featuring the brand’s first-ever La Zi Ji 辣子鸡 (Sichuan Mala Chicken). Apt for this season – this spicy and numbing offering ignites the shiok-ness and blessings of the Year of the Fire Horse.
Introducing a new HUAT Ritual, KFC invites all to take a sensorial moment to savour and inhale the fresh, auspicious energy of new beginnings, ushering in abundance and good fortune for the year ahead. Rooted in the spirit of Chinese New Year traditions, where food plays a symbolic role in bringing fortune, prosperity and joy, this ritual transforms the act of enjoying food into a meaningful gesture of welcoming positive energy and starting the year on a prosperous note.
Indulge in the La Zi Ji Crunch, where delicious KFC chicken that’s freshly breaded and fried meets this tantalising Sichuan spice. Enjoy an elevated finger-lickin’ good experience, as this Chinese dish that usually comprises small, battered pieces of chicken in a basket of chillies is now a full chicken part that can be savoured on the bone!

Fiery, fragrant, and layered with addictively crispy chicken, KFC’s rendition stays authentic to the traditional Sichuan La Zi Ji while introducing a chicken-on-bone twist, celebrating its hallmark mala heat and aromatic spice profile. Each golden piece of chicken is doused with a bold trio of auspicious red dried chilli, chilli oil and numbing peppercorns, releasing that unmistakable mala buzz that dances on your tongue. Every bite hits you with crisp heat first, followed by a slow-building tingle that keeps you reaching for more… one piece is never enough!
KFC also has crispy La Zi Ji Bites, which are bite-sized but massive in flavour. These take inspiration from Sichuan’s legendary La Zi Ji, turning it into the ultimate pop-and-crunch snack. Each bite-sized morsel is fried to a shatteringly crisp finish, then tossed in chilli oil, peppercorns and spices. Perfect for snacking, sharing, or inhaling by the handful, these fiery little bites explode like succulent firecrackers in your mouth.

Sides of Splendour
Pair these fiery poultry offerings with KFC’s first-ever Mala Lotus Root Chips. Here’s the good news: you can stock up on these addictive crisp packs that will keep everyone reaching out for more. Or stash them in your handbag for some serious snacking later!

There’s also the Mango Pomelo Sago Pie, where zesty pomelo meets the sweetness of mango sago in a golden crust in a harmonious union. Pomelos are yet another Chinese New Year essential, a symbol of prosperity, family unity, good fortune, and protection. Light yet indulgent, these pies are the perfect bite-sized treat to round off your meal.

Bucket of Abundance
Increase your wealth with a KFC La Zi Ji Crunch Bucket, served in a special Bucket of Abundance sleeve. This is designed just like a traditional Chinese bucket brimming with coins of gold to symbolise prosperity and well wishes for the coming year. Each La Zi Ji Crunch Bucket features 5 pieces of La Zi Ji Crunch.
Top up for the La Zi Ji Crunch Feast, which is perfect for groups of four people. Accompanying the La Zi Ji Crunch Feast are 5 pieces of La Zi Ji Crunch, 6 pieces of La Zi Ji Bites, 3 pieces of Original Recipe Tenders, 2 reg Whipped Potato, 2 reg Coleslaw and 4 reg Sjora Mango Peach.
Those who can’t take the heat can also look out for the HUAT Feast comprising 8 pieces of Original Recipe or Hot & Crispy Chicken, 6 pieces of Hot & Crispy Chicken Bites, 3 pieces of Original Recipe Tenders, 2 med Coleslaw and 2 med Whipped Potato.
Don’t miss the La Zi Ji Crunch Buddy Meal as well, where you and a loved one can indulge in 5 pieces of Firecracker Chicken and 6 pieces of Firecracker Chicken Bites, rounded off with 2 reg Whipped Potato and 2 reg Sjora Mango Peach.
