As the year comes to a close, residents in Singapore can look forward to more than 200 community celebrations organised by PA Grassroots Organisations (GROs).
Apart from having fun with their loved ones, residents can make new friends and bond with the community as they share their wishes and aspirations for the New Year at these celebrations.
The celebrations this year will have something for everyone, reflecting the diverse interests of Singaporeans and the desire to be more inclusive by reaching out to the less privileged and physically challenged residents. For those who are environmentally-conscious, there will also be eco-friendly activities at some of these countdown celebrations.
The “Unity in Diversity at Teck Ghee Countdown” event on Saturday, 31 December 2016, organised by Teck Ghee GROs, is one such event. The event will feature a Bottle Cap Wall Mural made up of recycled bottle caps and put together by Teck Ghee residents. Over at Nee Soon South, residents will have the opportunity to create their own Friendship Bands with their family and friends using old clothing.
Grassroots volunteers from Boon Lay will also partner student volunteers who will accompany 40 wheelchair-bound residents at the “Boon Lay Countdown 2017” event, signifying the younger generation’s spirit in contributing to the community.
