With soaring housing prices and diminishing living square footages, the pressures of carving out innovative living and working spaces in a new SOHO, HDB or condominium have created a new trend – interior designers here are more creative in helping you make the most of the space you have.
Noticing the proliferation of clever ideas, Asia Pacific Furniture Fair (APFF) with the support from the Singapore Furniture Association has put together a new furniture and design fair riding on the theme of “Space Conservation”.
Dream Home 2012 – “Come with a Dream, Leave with a Home”, takes place at the Singapore Expo Hall 6 from June 16 to June 24, noon to 10pm daily. The event promises to be a launch pad for innovative designs.
SPACEMAN – Among the participating exhibitors is Spaceman. Visitors to Dream Home 2012 will be among the first to catch a glimpse of the company’s space-saving wall beds, furniture and homeware, which hail from Sweden, Denmark, Italy, the UK, the US and South Korea. The “Spaceman mission”, says Mr Levin, is to provide transformative furniture that can make your space fluid and flexible – a room could be transformed into a bedroom, a study, a lounge, a games room and a dining room all in a single day. At Dream Home 2012, Spaceman’s convertible furniture will be priced from $980 for a hidden bed. For a convertible coffee/dining table, prices start from $1,000.
Affordable customisation – Handpicked for the theme of affordable styles for small homes, the 88 exhibitors at Dream Home 2012 will showcase space-saving products for every corner of your home – ranging from the home office and living room to the kitchen and bedrooms. Customers are able to customise everything about their furniture including the colour, fabric and size.
Life-size mock-ups – A highlight of the event is a section devoted to life-size mock-ups for the HDB homes. It is a unique showcase of renovation ideas and space-saving concepts by participating interior design firms. “The idea is to let the interior designers show you how to work magic into your own homes,” says Ms Emeline Koh, project manager for the show.
Free consultation – There will be free consultation and design guidance for homeowners during the show – this is especially insightful for people who are in the midst of renovating their homes, or who are looking to purchase new furniture for a home revamp. As part of the Great Singapore Sale, Dream Home 2012 will have additional promotions for visitors. For details, visit Asia Pacific Furniture Fair’s facebook page or www.apff.com.sg.
