Experience the best of what Hokkaido has to offer at Takashimaya’s Summer Hokkaido Fair!

Don’t miss your chance to taste authentic flavours from Japan

The summer installment of the popular Hokkaido Fair will run for 11 days from Thu 20 Jul to Sun 30 Jul 2017.

Held at the Food Hall, B2, Takashimaya Department Store, the fair will feature a seasonal mix of delicacies from the northern-most island of Japan.

Expect an amazing food bonanza with specially-imported seafood, snacks, confectionery and produce from Hokkaido.

Seafood lovers can indulge in Sugiyama Suisan’s King Crab Bentos and Marudai Suisan’s Hairy Crab, while dessert lovers can have a taste of Petite Merveille’s light and savoury Mel Cheese or Komatagake Gyunyu’s Soft Ice Cream!

Grilled delights such as Ohta Syokuhin’s croquettes and Watanabe Syoten’s grilled scallops and squid.

Here are some food highlights you should try at the fair.

Mel Cheese

Not to be missed is the Mel Cheese from Petite Merville. A beloved patisserie amongst the locals in Hokkaido, Petite Merville’s signature Mel Cheese cake is a cheese soufflĂ© that combines the best of Hokkaido’s dairy products – milk, cream and cheese – into a melt-in-your-mouth confection.

Soft, creamy and light to the taste, the Mel Cheese comes in plain and chocolate flavours.

Dried Scallops

The scallops from Hokkaido are well-known for their high quality. Harvested from the coastline surrounding the island, the scallops have a sweeter taste and a rich aroma.

Dried scallops are the perfect addition to soups, stews and other Asian dishes, giving them a flavourful umami taste. If you boil soup everyday, this is your chance to stock up on premium grade Hokkaido dried scallops from Issin Foods.

Scallop Cream Croquette

For a mouth-watering treat, try Ohta Syokuhin’s scallop cream croquette.

Surrounded by a crispy shell and oozing with the goodness of chunky scallops and delicious cream on the inside, you’ll fall in love with this snack at the first bite.

Jumbo King Crab Claw Fishcake and Onion Fried Fishcake

Another standout snack at the Hokkaido Fair is the fishcakes. The famous king crabs from Hokkaido can be made into many different dishes and snacks.

Try the wholesome goodness of the king crab fishcake from Yamasa Miyahara. Another scrumptious option is the onion-fried fishcake.

Melon Soft Serve Ice Cream

Round up your gourmet adventures at the Hokkaido Fair with a serving of melon soft serve ice cream from Komagatake Gyunyu. Made from fresh milk from Hokkaido, this refreshing treat will help you beat the heat at the same time.
