COE premiums mostly softened after the June 2026 second bidding exercise ๐
The latest Certificate of Entitlement (COE) bidding exercise closed at 4:00pm on 17 Jun 2026, ending with a largely softer set of premiums across most vehicle categories in Singapore.
Compared with the previous June 2026 first bidding exercise, four out of five COE categories recorded lower premiums. Category B saw the biggest absolute decline at S$3,487, followed by Category A with a S$2,162 drop. Category C dipped by S$999, while Category D edged down by S$11. Category E was the only segment to move up, inching higher by just S$2 ๐น.
This means the latest round was not a broad-based surge. Instead, the results point to a modest pullback for most categories, especially for mainstream cars under Category A and larger or more powerful cars under Category B. The tiny movement in Category E suggests the Open Category stayed almost flat, even though it technically closed slightly higher.
How the latest figures compare historically ๐
For car-related COE categories, the June 2026 second exercise remains below the major peaks seen in recent COE history. Category A is below its Oct 2025 record of S$128,105, while Category B is below its Oct 2023 record of S$150,001. Category E, the Open Category for all vehicles except motorcycles, is also below its Oct 2023 record of S$158,004.
Category C deserves extra attention even after the latest decline. At S$93,001, the commercial vehicle premium is still close to the S$94,000 all-time high recorded in the previous exercise, so cost pressure for goods vehicles and buses remains historically elevated.

What the latest movement means ๐
Category A and Category B remain above the S$120,000 mark, so the overall COE environment remains costly despite the latest decline. The lower premiums in these categories may reduce total purchase calculations slightly, but final on-road prices still depend on dealer packages, financing, trade-in value and vehicle model.
For commercial vehicle operators, the Category C dip offers a small easing in upfront cost pressure for goods vehicles and buses. Motorcycle buyers also saw a marginal decrease in Category D, although the movement was small at only S$11.
Category E, which can be used for any vehicle type except motorcycles, closed almost unchanged. Its S$2 increase keeps it as the highest premium among the five categories in this exercise.
Category A closed S$345 higher than Category B in this exercise. That is unusual enough to note because Category B typically covers larger or more powerful cars and EVs, but both categories are now sitting in a very tight premium range above S$123,000.
What each COE category covers ๐ค
Category A covers non-fully electric cars up to 1,600cc and up to 97kW, plus fully electric cars up to 110kW.
Category B covers non-fully electric cars above 1,600cc or above 97kW, plus fully electric cars above 110kW.
Category C is for goods vehicles and buses.
Category D covers motorcycles.
Category E is the Open Category, excluding motorcycles.

Overall, the latest COE exercise brought limited relief across most categories, though premiums remain high by everyday ownership standards. The updated figures are useful when comparing new car, motorcycle or commercial vehicle deals, especially after checking final on-road prices, trade-in offers and financing packages ๐.
