COE Prices Surge Across Most Categories in December 2024’s Second Open Bidding Exercise

The second Certificate of Entitlement (COE) Open Bidding Exercise for December 2024 concluded on 18 December at 16:00.

All COE categories experienced price increases except for Category C, which saw a slight dip of $399. The largest increase was in Category B, which jumped by $5,990.

Highlights by Category

Category A saw a modest increase of $2,000, bringing the new price to $96,000. This category encompasses non-fully electric cars with engine capacities up to 1,600cc or Maximum Power Outputs not exceeding 97kW (130bhp). Fully electric vehicles with a Maximum Power Output of up to 110kW (147bhp) also fall under this category.

Category B, which includes larger and more powerful vehicles, witnessed the steepest rise of $5,990, with the COE price now at $109,000. This category applies to non-fully electric cars exceeding 1,600cc or with Maximum Power Outputs above 97kW (130bhp), as well as fully electric vehicles over 110kW (147bhp).

For Category C, which covers goods vehicles and buses, prices dropped marginally by $399 to $69,890, providing a minor relief for businesses reliant on commercial transport.

Category D, catering to motorcycles, increased by $503, setting the new price at $8,381. Meanwhile, Category E, the open category for all vehicle types except motorcycles, rose by $4,991, now priced at $108,992.
