Enjoy thrilling race action and world class entertainment from 20 September to 22 September 2013. The 2013 Formula 1 Singtel Grand prix will be held in Singapore from 20 and 22 September 2013.

To facilitate the setting up and removing of the temporary race infrastructure, there will be a series of gradual F1 road closures in the Marina Centre area from 18 – 24 September 2013.

The Marina Centre/City area is easily accessible by public transport. Members of the public are strongly encouraged to use public transport to get their destinations around the area.

  • With the exception of the morning peak hours and race hours, taxis are given free access into the area.

During the race days (20-22 September), MRT train services will be increased to cope with the higher demand, with train operating hours extended until 1am. The operating hours for selected feeder bus services will also be extended to match the last train services.

Free shuttle buses are also available between the Lavender MRT station and Gate 1 at the Race venue. After the race, taxis will be an additional mode of transport.

On race days, ticket holders are encouraged to make use of public transport to get to the race as most gates are within walking distance to an MRT station.

If You Take Public Transport

From Friday, 20 September 2013 to Sunday, 22 September 2013, all MRT services will run until 1.00am.

There will be a FREE shuttle bus service connecting Lavender MRT station to Gate 1 of the circuit park from Friday, 20 September 2013 to Sunday, 22 September 2013. The shuttle bus service operates from 2.45pm to 1.00am, or two hours after the last race of the day, whichever is later.

All pedestrian underpasses and overhead bridges in the Marina Centre area will remain open.

If You Take A Taxi

Taxis will be allowed entry into the Marina Centre area via the single lane access from Nicoll Highway or Temasek Boulevard except during the morning peak hours.

For the morning peak hours, only taxis ferrying passengers with valid hotel guest passes or on call-booking assignments will be allowed entry into the Marina Centre area.

If You Drive

Please refer to the maps for the complete list of road access timings and locations.

Suntec City, Millenia Singapore and Marina Square car parks remain open, subject to availability.

The Singapore Flyer, Esplanade, Singapore Recreation Club, Singapore Cricket Club and Empress Place area car parks will be closed to the public.

You can continue to gain access into the various car parks via a single lane along Raffles Boulevard via Nicoll Highway or Temasek Boulevard, which will be re-opened to traffic during off-peak hours on the days indicated.

The Marina Centre area can also be accessed via Rochor Road to Temasek Boulevard. However, in the event of high traffic volume, admission to these roads may be restricted, except for police vehicles, emergency vehicles and vehicles with valid vehicle passes.

Road Closures over Six Days

Similar to past years, road closure will take place over six days. Affected roads will be closed from 0001hrs, 18 September (Wednesday) to facilitate the set up of race infrastructure.

When the race is completed, affected roads will reopen progressively and all roads will be fully accessible by 0530hrs, 24 September (Tuesday) onwards.

Roads Open during Traffic Peak Hours

To allow traffic accessing the area, road corridors will be opened at selected hours during the six-day closure period. This year, motorists can make use of the road opening along the corridor of Collyer Quay, St Andrew’s Road and Stamford Road during the morning peak hours from Wednesday (18 September) to Friday (20 September).

To summarise, motorists will be able to use the following roads:

Wednesday to Friday (18-20 September), from 5.30am to 9.30am

a) Orchard bound corridor: Collyer Quay, St Andrew’s Road and Stamford Road
b) CBD bound corridor: Nicoll Highway and Esplanade Drive
c) CBD bound corridor: Republic Avenue, Republic Boulevard and Bayfront Avenue

Saturday (21 September), from 5.30am to 9.30am

d) CBD bound corridor: Nicoll Highway and Esplanade Drive

Monday (23 September), from 5.30am to 9.30am

e) CBD bound corridor: Nicoll Highway and Esplanade Drive
f) CBD and Airport bound corridor: Bras Basah Road, Raffles Boulevard, Bayfront Avenue, Republic Avenue and Republic Boulevard

Monday (23 September), from 5pm to 8.30pm

g) CBD bound corridor: Nicoll Highway and Esplanade Drive
h) CBD and Airport bound corridor: Bras Basah Road, Raffles Boulevard, Bayfront Avenue, Republic Avenue and Republic Boulevard
i) Orchard and Kallang bound corridor: Collyer Quay, Esplanade Drive, Stamford Road and Nicoll Highway

Single-Lane Access into Marina Centre Area

Members of public are encouraged to use the public transport during the road closure period. For those who wish to drive, they can access the developments and shopping centres in the Marina Centre area through a single-lane road from Nicoll Highway and Temasek Boulevard at the following times:

  • Wednesday to Friday (18-20 September), from 10am to 5pm and from 10pm to 6am
  • Saturday and Sunday (21-22 September), from 0001hrs to 1pm
  • Monday (23 September), from 10am to 5pm and from 10pm to 6am

Besides the single-lane road, motorists can also enter Marina Centre area via Temasek Boulevard from Rochor Road (after exiting ECP) throughout the day.

To ensure smooth traffic flow, traffic wardens will be deployed on site to direct traffic and assist the public. Road information and directional signs will also be put up in the vicinity to direct motorists.

Non-Operation of Selected ERP Gantries @ Selected Dates & Times

As the ERP gantries may interfere with sensitive video transmission equipment used for the race, the following ERP gantries that are within the proximity of the race circuit will not be in operation.

Vehicles going under these gantries during the specified dates and time will not be charged:
