The 2014 Formula 1 Singapore Airlines Singapore Grand Prix returns to Singapore from 19 to 21 September 2014.
Race organisers have made arrangements to ensure minimal traffic disruptions and improve accessibility to allow members of the public to carry on their normal daily activities in the Marina Centre area while enjoying the race excitement.
Public Transport Arrangements
During the race days (19-21 September), operating hours of MRT train services will be extended to cope with the higher demand.
The operating hours for selected feeder bus services will also be extended to match the last train services.
- On Friday (19 September), MRT services will be available at City Hall MRT station till 1.30am (extended from 1am in 2013)
- On Saturday and Sunday (20-21 September), MRT services will be available at City Hall MRT station till 1.10am
FREE shuttle buses are also available between the Lavender MRT station and Gate 1 of the race venue.
Ticket holders are encouraged to make use of public transport during race days to get to the race venue as most gates are within walking distance to an MRT station. Taxis are also available as an additional option.

Road Closures over Six Days
Similar to last year, road closures will take place over only six days, a reduction from twelve days at the first 2008 race. Affected roads will be closed from 12.01am, 17 September (Wednesday) to facilitate the set up of race infrastructure. Affected roads will reopen progressively when the race is completed with all roads fully accessible by 5.30am, 23 September (Tuesday).
To facilitate better traffic access, race organisers have made arrangements to re-open more roads earlier after the race. Taxis will also be allowed better access to the Marina Centre area. Race goers can also have the convenience of using the MRT as operating hours of public transport services will be extended further this year.
Roads Open during Traffic Peak Hours
To facilitate morning and evening peaks, the following road corridors will be opened at selected hours during the six-day closure period:
Wednesday to Friday (17-19 September), from 5.30am to 9.30am
- Orchard bound: Collyer Quay, St Andrew’s Road and Stamford Road
- CBD bound: Nicoll Highway and Esplanade Drive
- CBD bound: Republic Avenue, Republic Boulevard and Bayfront Avenue
Saturday (20 September), from 5.30am to 9.30am
- CBD bound: Nicoll Highway and Esplanade Drive
Monday (22 September), from 5.30am to 9.30am
- CBD bound: Nicoll Highway and Esplanade Drive
- CBD and Airport bound: Bras Basah Road, Raffles Boulevard, Bayfront Avenue, Republic Avenue and Republic Boulevard
Monday (22 September), from 5pm to 8.30pm
- CBD bound: Nicoll Highway and Esplanade Drive
- CBD and Airport bound: Bras Basah Road, Raffles Boulevard, Bayfront Avenue, Republic Boulevard and Republic Avenue
- Orchard and Kallang bound: Collyer Quay, Esplanade Drive, Stamford Road and Nicoll Highway
- ECP bound: Bayfront Avenue, Temasek Avenue, Raffles Boulevard and Republic Boulevard (new opening for 2014)
Single-Lane Access into Marina Centre Area
Members of the public are encouraged to use the public transport during the road closure period. For those who wish to drive, they can access the developments and shopping centres in the Marina Centre area through a single-lane road from Nicoll Highway and Temasek Boulevard at the following times:
- Wednesday to Friday (17-19 September), from 10am to 5pm and from 10pm to 6am
- Saturday and Sunday (20-21 September), from Midnight to 1pm
- Monday (22 September), from 10am to 5pm and from 10pm to 6am
This year, taxis will also be able to use the single-lane access at all times, except during the hours when the race is ongoing on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Besides the single-lane road, motorists can also enter Marina Centre area via Temasek Boulevard from Rochor Road (after exiting ECP) throughout the day.
To ensure smooth traffic flow, traffic wardens will be deployed on site to direct traffic and assist the public. Road information and directional signs will also be put up in the vicinity to direct motorists.
Car parks at Suntec City, Millenia Singapore and Marina Square remain open to public subject to availability.

Use of New Temporary Signs to Direct Motorists
To help motorists better navigate the road network while some roads are closed, a series of new signs will be implemented for the 2014 race.
These signs bearing visual symbols will complement existing traffic signs to better direct motorists to three key routes – Shenton Way, Bayfront Avenue and Stamford Road – within the Marina Bay area.

Information on Road Access Plans
Members of the public are strongly advised to plan their journey ahead of time. Information leaflets on the road access and public transport plans will be available at selected petrol stations, major public transportation nodes and various developments in the Marina Centre area from today.
