Road Closure and Public Transport Arrangement for the Formula 1 Singapore Airlines Singapore Grand Prix 2024

The Formula 1 Singapore Airlines Singapore Grand Prix 2024 will be held from 20 to 22 September 2024 around the Marina Centre and Padang area.

As with previous editions, road closures will be required to facilitate event preparations. The race organiser has made arrangements to minimise traffic disruptions. Road closures in the Marina Centre and Padang area will take place over seven days, from 18 to 24 September 2024. Members of the public and F1 ticket holders are strongly encouraged to take public transport during this period.

Road Closure Over Seven Days

Affected roads will close from 12.01am, 18 September 2024 for the set-up of race infrastructure and all roads will be fully accessible by 5.30am, 24 September 2024. To allow for traffic access as soon as possible, the race organiser will adopt a phased approach and progressively re-open affected roads after the race.

Roads Open During Traffic Peak Hours

To facilitate morning and evening peak hour traffic, the following road corridors will be opened at selected hours during the road closure period:

Public Transport Arrangement

Train services will be extended on race days from 20 to 22 September 2024. The last trains on the North-South Line (NSL) and East-West Line (EWL) will depart from City Hall MRT station at 12.30am on 20 and 21 September 2024, and 12.45am on 22 September 2024. Operating hours for the other train lines (except for the Bukit Panjang LRT service[1] and Changi Airport service) will also be extended. To complement the extended train service hours, selected bus services connecting to MRT stations will also have extended operating hours.

Members of the public and F1 ticket holders are strongly encouraged to take public transport to get to the Marina Centre and Padang areas from 18 to 24 September 2024. Taxis and private hire cars are available as alternative travel options. Please refer below for the various transport options and the nearest MRT stations to the respective F1 gates.

Transport OptionsRemarks
Bus• Affected public bus services will be diverted.

• Commuters can choose to walk from the bus stops outside the road closure area, or transfer to trains which serve Marina Centre, e.g. Esplanade and Promenade MRT stations, and Padang area, e.g. City Hall and Raffles Place MRT stations.

Taxi• With the exception of race hours, taxis can access the area via the single-lane access.

• Taxis are only allowed to pick up and drop off at designated taxi stands.

Private Hire Car• Private hire cars are only allowed to pick up and drop off at designated points.
On Foot• Most pedestrian routes will remain open for use.

• Prominent signs will be put up to direct and guide pedestrians to the various destinations.

Vehicular Access into Marina Centre

During the road closure period, motorists can still access the Marina Centre area via Rochor Road to Temasek Boulevard, or through a single lane along Raffles Boulevard via Nicoll Highway or Temasek Boulevard (except for buses and vehicles with W, X, Y plates) but only at the following timings:

18, 19, 20 and 23 September· 12.00am to 6.00am
· 10.00am to 5.00pm
· 10.00pm to 12.00am
21 and 22 September· 12.00am to 1.00pm
24 September· 12.00am to 5.30am
(All roads will be reopened from 5.30am)

Taxis and motorcycles can use the single-lane access at all times, except during race hours.

Auxiliary Police Officers will be deployed on race days to direct traffic and provide public assistance. Directional signs will also be put up in the vicinity to guide motorists. Car parks at Suntec City, Millenia Walk, and Marina Square will remain open to public. [1] This is due to ongoing renewal works for the Bukit Panjang LRT during engineering hours.
