For the period from 1 Apr to 30 Jun 2015, electricity tariffs will decrease by an average of 10.7% or 2.45 cents per kWh compared to the previous quarter
The tariff reduction is due to lower cost of natural gas for electricity generation which fell by 22.6% compared to the previous quarter.
- Existing Tariff (without GST) 23.29 ¢/kWh
- New Tariff (without GST) 20.87 ¢/kWh
- New Tariff (with 7% GST) 22.33 ¢/kWh
While network costs rose due to infrastructure investments to replace ageing assets and meet rising electricity demand, the lower cost of natural gas more than offset this increase
For households, the electricity tariff will decrease from 23.29 to 20.87 cents per kWh for 1 Apr to 30 Jun 2015. The average monthly electricity bill for families living in four-room HDB flats will decrease by $7.83
