The Istana grounds will be open to the public on Wednesday, 22 October 2014, from 8.30 am to 6.00 pm, in celebration of Deepavali.
Community Performances and Family-Oriented Activities
Visitors can look forward to performances by various volunteer arts groups such as PAssionArts, Combeatz, and PA Talents.
This Open House will also feature for the first time the NUS’ Indian Dance Group and SMU’s Samba Masala, in addition to band performances by Tampines and Siglap Secondary Schools.
Other activities include display of animals from Wildlife Reserves of Singapore Zoo, Instant Portraits by Gloria Photo Studio and Cosmoprof Face Painting. Istana merchandise will also be on sale by the National Council of Social Services to raise funds for Comchest. The full programme line-up is listed in Annex A
Tour of the Istana Main Building and Designated Landmarks
Members of the public can choose to sign up for the Nature Guided Walk at the Istana, or take a guided Heritage Tour of the Istana main building. Visitors can view selected function rooms and a display of gifts presented to the President and the Prime Minister by foreign dignitaries at the Istana Main building.
Visitors can also go on a self-guided tour using the “Istana Garden Walk” phone application which is available for free on the Apple Store or the Google Play Store.
Admission Details
Entry to the Istana ground is FREE for Singaporeans and Singapore permanent residents. All others visitors are required to pay an entrance fee of $1 per person.
Entrance to the Istana ground is via the main gate at Orchard Road (nearest MRT station is Dhoby Ghaut). Additional fees as specified in Annex B for the tours of the Istana main building will apply for the guided tours.
Proceeds from the sale of souvenirs and entrance fees collected will be donated to charity.
In the event that air quality is at “Unhealthy ” or “Very Unhealthy” levels according to NEA’s guidelines, scheduled programmes and activities may be shortened or suspended accordingly.
The Istana Open House will be cancelled if air quality is at the “Hazardous” Level. Information on the status of the Istana Open House will be provided onsite and on the Istana Website.

Istana Main Building Guided Tours
Guided tours are conducted by volunteers from the Preservation of Sites and Monuments division of the National Heritage Board. The tours are limited to 15 persons per group, and depart every 20 minutes from 9.00 am to 3.00 pm.
All fees collected will be donated to charity.
