Rose Chan Doll – Rose Chan Doll is the mascot of Takashimaya and was born in the autumn of 1959. In the Christmas of 1994, Takashimaya Singapore presented ‘Rose Chan’ to Singapore for the first time. Since then, her fans have seen her in a variety of different outfits evoking diverse moods and themes. In 2012, Rose-chan appears in the traditional costume of a Balinese dancer. Her kain batik (traditional skirt) is adorned with intricate patterns, made by hand using a wax-resistant dyeing technique. A pelangi (sash) is draped elegantly around her waist, and her wrists, neck and head are adorned with opulent, intricate golden jewellery and headdress. Her fingers are delicately extended, pointing, flexing and fluttering in accordance with time-honoured traditions.
