Wisma Atria treats shoppers to an exclusive look at the world’s famous “landmarks” right here in Singapore this Christmas Season!
Shoppers can look forward to hand painted optical illusions drawn by a trio of prolific Dutch street artists commissioned by Wisma Atria, involving Leon Keer, Ruben Poncia and Remko van Schaik from Utrecht, The Netherlands.
Designed by Leon Keer, the 75m by 75m floor masterpiece features a 4-dimensional trompe l’oeil drawing with augmented reality of 4 major cities in a “Christmas Theme” on the most iconic flight of stairs along Orchard Road.
Leon and Ruben will work on the main masterpiece while Remko will paint a smaller 30m by 30m art piece along the in-mall corridor at Wisma Atria Level 2.
Marrying art with technology, Leon incorporates augmented reality to further enhance traditional 3-D paintings. Requiring an application which consumers download on their mobile devices or tablets, they then use it to scan the 4-D masterpiece at Wisma Atria’s grand steps where they will watch animated snow fall down on the famous landmarks of the world on-screen.
Presented as part of Wisma Atria’s Christmas decorations, these amazing paintings complement the magnificent larger than life hanging Christmas wreath decorated with shiny baubles, snowflakes and fairy lights in the main atrium, while a trail of electric blue and snow white garlands line the façade walkway and in-mall corridors.
Shoppers are welcomed to follow and observe the team as they embark on a 5 day artistic journey where they will be painting their street art live from 17 till 21 November 2013.
For this festive season of sharing and gift-giving, Wisma Atria will be rolling out a series of mall-wide promotions to offer shoppers more value for their Christmas purchases as well as to enhance their shopping experience. They can look forward to late night shopping till 11pm (16-23 Dec), fantastic lucky draws, gift with purchases and shopping privileges right in the heart of Orchard Road!
