M1 customers can now use their existing M1 data bundles in six overseas destinations, through the new Data Passport service.

The value-added service, available from 10 July 2015, will enable customers to use their M1 data bundles in Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, Sri Lanka and the United States, at a monthly subscription of S$10 per country.

“We want M1 customers to be able to switch on and leave their data connection on when they are overseas, as they do when they are in Singapore. And now, through the M1 Data Passport service, our customers have the peace of mind to use their smart devices the same way they do at home,” said Mr P. Subramaniam, Chief Marketing Officer, M1.

M1 has also launched the new Network Lock feature to protect customers from unintended usage and charges while roaming overseas. The free feature ensures a customer’s overseas data usage is on a M1 preferred network, enabling the customer to enjoy attractive data usage rates.

In addition to the six Data Passport destinations, the Network Lock feature is also available on an additional ten destinations offering S$15 a day unlimited data roaming. Customers can continue to make and receive voice calls and messages on any network, and can enable or disable the Network Lock feature by dialing *123#.
