Samsonite has gone one step beyond and travellers appreciative of beautiful masterpiece can now have the opportunity to use the Samsonite luggage as a canvas.
An innovation in itself, the artwork is embedded onto the CURV material, instead of being positioned as just a layer on top of the luggage’s shell, allowing the artwork to be resistant to possible scratches caused by airport handlers.
With this technology on hand, Samsonite, in support of local arts, has collaborated with Singaporean artist, award film maker and Asiatainment artiste, Edmund Chen, to create a limited edition luggage collection titled “Cherish”.
Featuring “Designs by Edmund Chen” which was concurrently awarded by the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR), the lead agency for fostering world-class scientific research and talent for a vibrant knowledge-based and innovation-driven Singapore, and the Guinness World Record for 2013.
Four parts of the 600 meter long masterpiece are re-interpreted by Edmund and interwoven into the shells of Samsonite’s signature Cosmolite collection, known for its incredible lightness and unparalleled strength using patented CURV technology from Samsonite.
Inspired by the changing of the seasons, “Cherish” by Edmund hopes to remind one to hold dear to the present and live life to the fullest. “Life is an evolution and a continuous journey through time,” says Edmund, and this painting embodies his vision of how people around the world must embrace life and the experiences that life brings through the seasons. This harmonious union is represented through the koi swimming in the waters through four seasons amidst the reminiscent of a seashell on the luggage.
100 limited pieces of Spring will be available in two sizes respectively from June 2015 at selected Samsonite boutiques. Additionally, five exclusive sets of the “Cherish” collection comprising of Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter will be sold with all proceeds going towards charity.
“It is a great honour to be selected as the first Singaporean artist to partner with Samsonite,” shared Edmund. “‘Cherish by Edmund Chen’ is a painting that is very close to my heart and a labour of love. It has been an amazing experience to watch it come to life with the latest technology on the Cosmolite luggage. Now I cannot travel the world without Cosmolite as it expresses my love for the arts.”

The overall winning design will be printed and produced on Samsonite suitcase.”
In the last decade, one of the most innovative – and popular – collections Samsonite has introduced are those utilising the revolutionary CURV material, exclusive to Samsonite in the luggage arena. The award winning Cosmolite was introduced in 2008, the iconic and classic Cubelite collection was launched in 2011 and in 2012, Samsonite unveiled Firelite, the lightest CURV collection yet paired with strong, dynamic style and bold colours.
CURV material, manufactured by Propex, is one of the world’s most visually stunning and technologically superior materials – an advanced impact-resistant, lightweight material made by weaving fibres of durable polypropylene together.
